The file you need to look at is lts.conf. Look through the example  
modelines in that file for a modeline which sets the screen to  
640x480. Unhash that line and hash out the 800x600 line, which is the  
default. Be sure to have only one modeline active.

You can set the resolution for individual PCs. Check the LTSP  
documentation, which covers it nicely.
