I tried to end run this problem by going to synaptic manager and "adding
a cd" to get to stuff on my distro, but it says something about not
being able to find /mnt/cdrom/

which seems weird as when I insert a cd it does show on the server
desktop and can be browsed.  When I checked /mnt folder there was no
cdrom folder
