I think this illustrates the basic problem were up against.  people don't
understand the issue, windoz works (or so they think) and they have been
brainwashed and FUDded into believing that the more money they spend the
better product they get...
  In every discussion I've had with the average person the software was
the least of the problems, convincing someone that what they had now was
overpriced and underperforming is the problem, no one likes to discover
they have made a bad decision or wasted money so as a matter of pride they
will defend their choice in the face of all facts, or what happened to
you, they will just ignore the issue.

if we can solve that problem everything else is easy
