[K12OSN] Users can't login

I have a k12 (core3) lab and my users are authenticating to a seperate
ldap/samba box. The problem is that out of 800+ users there is a handful
(about 12)  that can't log into the k12 terminals. They can log into a
windows machine with no problems, but when they log into a terminal the
screen goes blank and kicks back to the login screen. Any ideas? Thanks
