Hi Steven,

Sendmail is used to setup email server (actually SMTP server). While IE,
thunderbird, Mozilla mail and so on are email clients for sending and
receiving emails.
You can setup email server by using Sendmail in your K12ltsp server but I
think there is no need to setup Sendmail in your thick clients for just
sending and receiving emails. In your k12ltsp server, just setup email
accounts according to your Sendmail setting. In your think clients, just
setup email accounts in thunderbird or Mozilla mail and have the SMTP and
POP server be the K12ltsp server. Actually, the setting of email boxes in
your thick clients should be the same as your thin clients.
