Could it be your firewall settings?
system-config-securitylevel
Turn the firewall off and retest.
If that's the problem, fuss with it some more. :-)
Otherwise, put it back.

Also, you could tell us what the contents of /etc/exports is, what the 
results of ifconfig is (as root), and the contents of lts.conf.
While you're at it, you could also post /etc/dhcpd.conf and the k12ltsp 
copy of the same.

If nothing else, you'll get a whole series of exploration of your new 
system... :-)
