[K12OSN] Sharing Installation problems/solutions

The latest update of K12LTSP seems dynamite-packed. In an eager attempt
to push the limits I went to yumex and added almost all of these
installs:

Well, what is happening now is that at boot, after it loads all the
applications (right after the computer screen that loads all the apps),
and right before the login screen comes in (ie, at the blue transition
screen) the server hangs unmercifully. My usual CTRL-ALT-F1 keyboard
trick to break out of gui (I generally login-in again and then type
gdm-restart) doesn't respond, so short of re-installing everything I am
forced to ask the kind group for some pointers:

a) Is there another way to break away from gui during the booting
process?

b) What application might be at fault? Anybody had similar experiences?

Being unable to log in has certainly taught me I am an inexperienced
tester. However, I need that server operational by Monday. Any help
greatly appreciated!
