[K12OSN] Taking the LDAP plunge

Because I was a ldap newb before I started my server project I found the
smbldap-installer is probably the easiest way to get samba/ldap setup on a
server.
http://www.vcsvikings.org/docuwiki/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/

I then moved onto authenticating other things like an intranet page, and a
wiki against that ldap server.

I didn't find any very good how-to's that covered everything I wanted to do.
I actually thought I would thought because my setup seems like it would be
very common. I'd start a wiki on the whole subject and let other people add
their bits and pieces on setting up a server. Some examples of things I
could add...
Pxe G4u setup, dns, dhcp, rsync backups, etc...

Subject: [K12OSN] Taking the LDAP plunge

On my current (soon to be replaced) server I have what I've found to be
(for me) the optimum combination of Samba, Sendmail, DSpam, postfix,
clamav and Pop3.

I'm building up a server that will use LDAP to authenticate users at
login and for these services (except I'll change pop3 to dovecot's
imap), as well as for storing a central Evolution address book.

I've seen lots of chatter about ldap in the last few weeks, but most of
it seems to be at different points of the completion spectrum. Is there
a HOWTO that covers the above, or shall I start from the myriad ldap
howtos and begin writing my own howto for future use?

Thanks,
  Michael Blinn
