I also noticed this, but for me it was that Firefox has the update settings set to check for updates on launch (under Tools -- Options -- Advanced -- Update). Unchecking these allows Firefox to start quickly.

Sincerely,
Dave Hopkins

p.s. sorry for the form of the reply, it seems Comcast is rejecting email from k12osn .. redhat.com at the moment. (last 5 days)

Jeff, I only noticed the delay on the first launch of firefox. I tested this for many users and it seems to be true for those that I tested. Could the delay be from Firefox creating a new profile?

Yes...I have noticed this....I run Samba/LDAP for centralized
authentication....and use DHCP failover/Load balancing to run two servers
for K12LTSP v5. I have also noticed the significant delay in launching
firefox....I attributed much of it to Day one first time launches, but
maybe there's more to it. I'll check into it more tomorrow.
