[K12OSN] Laptop client keeps crashing

Can someone help?

I have a PC acting as my server with and intel celeron 2.40gig cpu with two
10/100  Realtek NIC, 512mb ram, 8ogig hard drive my client is a IBM T21 Laptop
 which boots fine, however as soon as I open a text or browse the internet
it crashes. Any suggestions as to why? The laptop works fine in windows or
not as a diskless.
