WRT Payroll for SQL-Ledger:
There is a canadian payroll program available (cdnpayroll) which does
our payroll for us. It has in the past been adapted to doing the queries
for SL. That isn't working right now, however.
We do the payroll GL entries manually, and set up Vendor Invoices for
the employees. That way, we can track individual employees (for tax
time) and still get overall payroll costs.
