iirc, you also need to edit the file

/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults/XScreenSaver.ltsp

I may be totally wrong on this but this file is for the clients, the other for the server. Editing this one seems to do it for us.

You could turn off the locking mechanism on the screensaver. Eric posted

I'm guessing that if you edit:

/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults/XScreenSaver


and  change the "*lock:" and "*lockVTs:" entries from:

     *lock:                  True
     *lockVTs:               False

to:

     *lock:                  False
     *lockVTs:               True
