I may be totally wrong on this but this file is for the clients, the other for the server. Editing this one seems to do it for us.

/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults/XScreenSaver.ltsp is a backup of the
stock/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults/XScreenSaver. The XScreenSaver
file is modified by the K12LTSP intialization scripts.

You could turn off the locking mechanism on the screensaver. Eric posted

/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults/XScreenSaver


and  change the "*lock:" and "*lockVTs:" entries from:

     *lock:                  True
     *lockVTs:               False

to:

     *lock:                  False
     *lockVTs:               True
