Hey all,
We're discussing getting pulseaudio into Fedora Extras as a replacement
for esd (and later possibly replacing esd within Fedora Core.)
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=195221
It's come up that using LD_PRELOAD to load the libesddsp wrapper (as the
ltsp_sound package does) will probably stop prelink from working. By
setting this system wide (rather than using the esddsp wrapper
specifically for the sound applications in question) there will be a
performance penalty for every application that the user starts. Has
anyone experimented with this? Do you see a hit in initial startup for
an application with the LD_PRELOAD enabling the sound wrapper vs not
using LD_PRELOAD?
