Do you have a problem with audio/video not being in sync?  I've never 
used Xine-ui for embedded video (or at all for that matter), so I'm 
curious if that makes it better.

Do you use Xine or mplayer, or both?  What is the dividing line in what 
application gets used?  (Sorry to drill you, I'm just curious how 
someone else did it. :)
