Save yourself the headache and *don't* use the cdrom to boot. Kids can
take them. Use the cd's as frisbees. Play "how fast can you push the
cdrom button". Stuff things in the cdrom tray. etc etc etc.....

Use pxe boot roms. unplug cdrom power connector. No headaches.
