[K12OSN] No keyboard when X starts.

I have run into a strange problem. We have about 500 terminals running.
They are custom made, VIA based mini-itx terminals. They work fine,
sound and all.

Now the manufacturer has upgraded the hardware somewhat, new mainboard
and faster cpu. They seem to boot fine, but here's the thing:

If I connect ps2 keyboard+usbmouse (like we usually do), the keyboard
dies when X starts.

If I connect ps2 keyboard and ps2 mouse, everything works fine. But they
get delivered with usbmouse... I got 70 of these today and I would like
to get them up and running.

The old type works like before running off the same server. We run
K12LTSP4.4.0 (or is it 4.4.1?) with 2.4.26-ltsp kernel. The interesting
part of lts.conf is pasted below. Can anyone help me sort this out?

# Mice drivers for the terminals
         X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL   = "PS/2"
         X_USBMOUSE_PROTOCOL = "IMPS/2"
             # Mouse protocols: ExplorerPS/2 GlidePoint GlidePointPS/2
             #      IMPS/2 IntelliMouse Microsoft MouseManPlusPS/2
             #      NetMousePS/2 NetScrollPS/2 PS/2 ThinkingMouse
             #      ThinkingMousePS/2 usb
         X_MOUSE_DEVICE     = "/dev/psaux"
         X_USBMOUSE_DEVICE   = "/dev/input/mice"
         X_MOUSE_RESOLUTION = 400
         X_USBMOUSE_RESOLUTION = 400
         X_MOUSE_BUTTONS    = 3
         X_USBMOUSE_BUTTONS   = 3
         USBEMULATE_3_BUTTONS = "off"

         # Keyboards
         XkbSymbols         = "us(pc101)"
         XkbModel           = "pc101"
         XkbLayout          = "no"
