A lot. Mostly the ability to set up a seperate server as the Samba/LDAP
server and point both K12LTSP/Linux servers and Windows machines/servers
to it.....you essentially would have "2 doors going into the same room".
Everything can be pointed to a common home directory regardless of Linux
or windows.....(this is a great feature...especially in school with mixed
platforms). Wanna' set up a new K12LTSP server? Simply set it up (no
users necessary) and use authconfig to point it to the Samba/LDAP server
to authenticate. Wanna' add a Windows Terminal server? No
problem....simply set it up and join it to the domain (the Samba/LDAP box
is the PDC). One username and one password...regardless of Linux or
Windows. Samba to authenticate to the Windows side.....LDAP to
authenticate the Linux/Mac OS X side.

smbldap-installer also comes with a slew of handy scripts to add users in
bulk, create unique usernames....etc.
