Doug,

I have good luck simply doing a ,in a terminal, " service cups restart "(
as root). This seems to "revitalize" any stuck/zombied/braindead printer.
Also ,I like "pictures". Use "http://localhost:631" in your web browser
address bar, to get to your cups web GUI,and rifle through it and see what
appears to be "stopped".. This has helped me immensly,with printer hang
ups.
I'm sure there is a more concise way of viewing printer ques to be more
"scientific" about things,but i tend to get rough with things to get them
cured.:)
