I had the same problem with my HP 5000 series. The solution was to
downgrade to an old kernel for the thin clients. Eric Harrison sent
me a link to the old kernel that works, I'll go dig it up....

ftp://k12linux.mesd.k12.or.us/pub/K12LTSP/testing/old-kernel/
ltsp_i386-boot-2.6.16-2.k12ltsp.5.0.0.i386.rpm

I had to do something like rpm -e --nodeps ltsp_i386-boot
then rpm -hiv ltsp_i386-boot-2.6.16-2.k12ltsp.5.0.0.i386.rpm

Then the clients booted right up.

Eric also had me try an updated kernel, but it didn't do the trick,
so I'm still using the old one. The thread was from a couple weeks
ago, the subject was "New HP clients kernel panic..." feel free to
search for it for more information.
