Cacti is a very convenient web wrapper for mrtg and it's underlying
rrd database. For people not familiar with them, the data gets
better with age. The initial graphs are scaled for the 5 minute
samples and the default view shows about a day. However the
database aggregates the samples so you can keep a long history
without needing much space. If you click on the initial
graph you'll get a screen showing graphs with the samples
rescaled to 30 minute, 2 hour, and 1 day averages so you
can see trends up to a year long.
