While we're on the subject of learning how to use Open Office, I have to 
admit that the one thing that's preventing me from switching over 
completely is the awkwardness, at least in my hands and in my perception, 
of doing search-and-replace for things like tabs, new lines, carriage 
returns, etc.

In MS Word, I just do a search for "^t", "^p", etc.

Does anybody have a pointer to info on how to do this easily in OpenOffice 
Writer?
