Well, I went back to the work this morning and tried the steps you outlined 
above. The "restorecon -Rv /"  cleared up all the warnings about unknown user 
root in messagebus config during boot up but still had the same two services  
fail plus one additional service.

I then tried the last option to set SELinux to permissive mode it worked. "No 
runs, no drips, no errors", as the Johnny Bench commercial would say.

Still wondering what went wrong with the system.
