[K12OSN] Activating sound cards

I read someplace that there is a file in the server that identifies
sound cards by name or some logical code and that this information is
needed in the lts.conf file.  I have a mixture of cards and onboard
chips that I need to make work.  Some are PCI others are old ISA cards.
 Can someone direct me to the correct location for this information?
