[K12OSN] Catch 22: Server Video Card gone bad... what now?

I think what the original post is looking for is :

   su

and then
   
   gdmsetup

notice that I did not put the - after su.  It does not work on my system
(Debian box, with LTSP) with the - .  Give me a "cannot open display:"
warning.  Without - works fine.
