[K12OSN] New installation on an old Server

You will get the faster speed of the SCSI drives: booting from an IDE drive is just to
start the process and load the driver for the SCSI array. Use the IDE disk for /boot
and put everything else onto the array. You might even be able to get /boot onto the
array, but that takes more wrestling with grub. Since /boot isn't really read after the
system is up and running, putting that onto the IDE disk would be simplest and still get
you what you want.
