[K12OSN] smbldap question ... "this is bad"

Just found this, wondering if you've followed it step by step?
on my k12ltsp 6.0 install this was in
/usr/share/doc/samba-3.0.24/LDAP/smbldap-tools-0.9.2/

$ rpm -Uvh smbldap-tools-0.8.6-1.noarch.rpm
. Modify /etc/opt/IDEALX/smbldap-tools/smbldap.conf and
/etc/opt/IDEALX/smbldap-tools/smbldap_bind.conf
to match you configuration.
. initialize the ldap directory
$ smbldap-populate
