Good approach - you get fewer surprises that way and you can always do a 
full restore of /etc to some other location and use 'diff -r' to see if 
you missed anything that matters.

By the way, the current version of backuppc is 3.0.0 and it has some 
advantages, including a web based editor for the configurations and 
permitting backups to run during the nightly cleanup pass.
