[K12OSN] A Symbol Writing Program

This seems to come up a lot (is this the same kind of product as
Boardmaker?), and it is something were there is a big gap between the
people who know what this software is supposed to do and the people
who would know how to create it. That, and, if I understand
correctly, a fair amount of artwork would have to be created, and it
is always harder to find artists than programmers. On the other hand,
it seems like fairly easy programming.

However, it also seems to me that this is something that would be good
for OLPC, which makes it a bit sexier, and there are more
opportunities these days for things like Google Summer of Code, so if
we can get a specification together of what this software is actually
supposed to do (I only vaguely understand it myself (if we're even
talking about the same thing)) then we could explore some options.

Actually, just a good paragraph explaining the concept in general to
someone completely unfamiliar would be a start.
