Last month I upgraded some of our samba servers (actually a complete
refresh) from fc5 to fc6 using the k12ltsp cd's.  I've come across a
change in the /etc/hosts file. Rather than the first line starting with
127.0.0.1, it starts with ::1 which I assume has something to do with
ipv6.

e.g.,

::1     hssrv01.eastgranby.k12.ct.us    hssrv01 localhost.localdomain
localhost

However, I cannot ping any of the above four names, but I just discovered
that I could ping6 them.

We had a network outage (lost the isp connection) that had a weird impact
on the samba servers that I believe is related to the server not being
able to resolve its own name and sending out dsn requests for
hssrv01.eastgranby.k12.ct.us.

Can anyone give me an explanation? We are not using ipv6. Should I
replace the ::1 with 127.0.0.1?
