[K12OSN] K12 Newb struggles

OK... Thanks for your encouragement and direction... I have a LTSP server working with a client connecting to it... I take it that all I need to do is run "system updater" on the server and that will update things like firefox and such?  Or do I need to do more of that by hand?

I am working in the LTSPADMIN enviroment... Which I like a lot... It makes it a bit easier to get things set the way I want to for the time being...

Thanks again for all of your help... Next task to tackle is authentication via Active Directory so I don't have to put in a ton of new usernames and to have it link to their home directories... Thanks again for all your help!  I think I have found those answers on the fedora site...

If you mean what you see on the server's display, yes, the login screen is different than what appears at the clients.  But that's just cosmetics.  I think you can even change that so that the server login screen (the 'greeter') is the same as what the clients see.  Look under System -> Administration -> Login Screen.

No, hook a switch to eth0, plug some clients into that, and see if they boot.  eth1 is the upstream link, that is, the NIC that should be connected to the school network/internet.

StarOffice is distributed by Sun.  It's a commercial product from a commercial company. 
  As such, there are restrictions on how it can be distributed--that is, you can only get it from Sun.  There's no problem with YOU downloading it and using it on your system/server, but Sun doesn't allow anyone else to distribute it.  Besides, as K12LTSP is a community effort, its software collection focuses on community-based projects.  You have to think about 'free' in terms of speech, not price.

As mentioned, this is a community effort, meaning documentation is created by the users, including you now. ;-)  There is the K12LTSP wiki at http://k12ltsp.org/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page.  There is the LTSP wiki at wiki.ltsp.org.  And there is the #ltsp IRC channel, for real-time questions & answers. 
Rather than asking what others can do for you, ask what you can do for others.  When you run into a problem, check the wikis.  If you can't find an answer there, post your question to the list, and we'll try to help.  And once you solve a problem, post it to the wiki so that others can benefit from your learning experience.
