[K12OSN] K12LTSP PXE boot hangs on tftp file search

Dear Folks,
 I've run into a strange (Google didn't help enough) problem with a new
K12 7.beta server. I attempted a forklift upgrade from K12 4.1.
Everything went swimingly, other than the fact that terminals won't boot.
They hang on trying to find /lts/pxe/pxelinux.0/{xxxxxxx} file. I
attempted the following to no avail:
1. update tftp
2. copy over /tftpdir/lts directory tree and /usr/sbin/in.tftp from a
working setup of K127.beta
3. many "lets fit some pieces together" moves
 no joy.

Currently the old server is pushing dhcp and tftp and points everything
else to the new server. This is a poor workaround, especially in view of
the shakiness of the old server.

 Suggestions, plese?
