I tried the mode line generator but no luck so far.  I found out that I
have 2 issues:

1) the vesa driver doesn't support widescreen resolutions
2) the driver for my video chipset *may* not support the resolution I'm
looking for.  I'm currently searching for an updated driver.

I'll post back if I make any progress.
