[K12OSN] RE SME Server Authentication

Does Group office sync up with the ldap, and email already setup in SME?
I'm looking at the demo and I'm really impressed. It almost looks like
you get everything a basic office worker needs right on a web page.

Sounds like a great Server. And possibly just what I'm looking for. I'll
have to get a separate box to try it out on. I installed it with VMWare
on my Fedora 6 box at home, done with the K12LTSP cd's, and ran into
issues. I never got to the Web UI, but I did get to the CLI. Of course
after restarting Fedora the computer slowed down significantly, and the
vmx wouldn't open.

Oh well, I'm loving Fedora 8! Found a great how-to on setting it up.
Lazy me now even my Logitech Cordless Keyboard has all its functionality
again. I can start Rythembox, play, pause, etc. Open a browser, even put
it to sleep. It's a really nice edition of Fedora, and appears to run
smoother than 6 did. Even with the desktop effects enabled. Biggest
issue was definitely Java, but once I made sure only the Java Iced Tea
was installed and configured right everything works.

Back to the server though. Tom Wolfe in another email brought up an
interesting question. Will you have to go to every computer and rejoin
it to the domain if you switch from AD to SME? If you use the same
domain name, and possibly transfer over the computer list from AD would
they still all work? Any thoughts on a conversion would help both of us
a great deal.

Do you authenticate OSX against your SME server, and if so, do you know
of a how-to?

Great how to on contribs!! With pictures too.
