[K12OSN] Some issues using USB sticks

Is the one that doesn't work being used with MS Vista OS? We had a
student whose USB stick worked fine. Then, the family got a new
computer and the USB stick stopped working. It was because Vista
changed the partition information on the USB stick.  After
reformatting the stick using XP, it worked again. This has now
happened several times with different USB sticks and the only thing in
common is the use of the sticks with Vista changes something on the
stick.  Also, if you use shift-alt-f2 to get a shell at the thin
client, is the hardware recognized?
