[K12OSN] Office 2007 and OpenOffice

That includes my district, too. We're still on MS Office 2003, with no
plans (yet) to go to MS Office 2007, specifically because of this issue.

A couple of ideas. Give the kids a copy of OpenOffice.org and have them
install that at home. You might talk with the parents at the PTA
meeting to get their buy-in. When they understand that MS Office 2007
is what's making it difficult for their kids to interoperate with the
school, then you likely will have more success. Bring CD-ROM's with
OpenOffice.org on them to this meeting to pass out.
