[K12OSN] slow NFS

How large is your LDAP database?  Are there any un-indexed searches
going on during this time?  we had a problem where there were too many
items being indexed.
setting these in ldap.conf sped things up for me:
pam_filter objectClass=posixAccount
pam_member_attribute memberUid
nss_base_group          ou=group,o=YOURDOMAINSPEC
nss_base_netgroup       ou=groups,o=YOURDOMAINSPEC
