[K12OSN] squidGuard not working

BTW, I made the edits to the K12LTP wiki so that others don't have to
encounter this problem.
I changed the /usr/sbin to /usr/bin on both the Installation and Updates
pages.
However, I still have questions about the default configs and directories.
There is no default /var/squidGuard, /var/squidGuard/db,
/var/squidGuard/blacklists, or /var/log/squidGuard directories. Nor is there
any /etc/cron.d/squidGuard.
Does anyone have a working config for squidGuard with all the directories
with contents and a cron config?
Any help here is greatly appreciated. I will make the appropriate edits to
the K12LTSP wiki once I have everything configured and working correctly so
that no one else has to go through this again.
Thanks
Charlie

I think I just found the error you mentioned. The directions have the wrong
directory for the squidGuard executable.
Directions give: redirect_program /usr/sbin/squidGuard -c
/etc/squid/squidGuard.conf
Should be: redirect_program /usr/bin/squidGuard -c
/etc/squid/squidGuard.conf
That takes care of getting it running.
However, I still have questions about the default configs and directories.
Any help here is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Thank for the feedback.
One other thing about the default K12LTSP install for squidGuard is that no
database or log directory is configured either. So given that I would
suspect there are a number of items that are not completely ready to run
with squidGuard on K12LTSP.
I looked at the squidGuard site and read their docs and thought about
installing from scratch since it looks pretty straight forward, but the
problem with that would be that I might not get updates.
Any help here is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Charlie,
I'm not at my office at the moment so I can't check the server we have it
running on. However the version of squid on EL 5 has slightly different
defaults than previous versions. I don't remember exactly but I think the
line for transparent proxy needs to be adjusted.

Hello, I am trying to get squidGuard working on a school K12LTSP EL5 server
implementation. It appears that the default install has issues. After trying
to activate squidGuard per the K12LTSP wiki instructions (
<http://k12ltsp.org/mediawiki/index.php/Squid:SquidGuard:Installation>
http://k12ltsp.org/mediawiki/index.php/Squid:SquidGuard:Installation) I get
an error message when trying to restart squid. Has anyone tried to install
squidGuard on a K12LTSP EL5 server? Are there instructions somewhere that
are different than those on the K12LTSP wiki?
Thanks
Charlie
