Steve,

Please post your smb.conf file. Do you have samba logging set to 2? If
so send a snippet of your samba log here as well after you have tried to
do a domain logon from a winders client. This will usually tell the tale
of a lot of troubles. I'm assuming you have winbind activated? What
version of samba and winbind?
This is a starting point.
