what happens if you use socket://x.y.w.z:9100

where x.y.w.z is the IP address of finaid12?  I would sometimes have
problems with name resolution (though not recently) and started using
the IP address which has worked flawlessly for me.

Can you ping finaid12?  or telnet to finaid12 on port 9100?
