Because you can do it?

Maybe you want to check out exactly what kind of hardware unknown thin 
client do have (lspci)? Or what it does right now (ps ax, top)? Or what 
happens when you plug in USB stick (dmesg)?

With root enabled you can ssh in thin client and check out all this. It 
is not the same thing as "chroot /etc/opt/i386".
