Henry,

Sounds like you are struggling with ltsp.
You may be far better off by downloading the Centos5/k12ltsp .iso's and
doing your initial k12ltsp install this way. It is almost an 'out of the
box/turnkey setup',were what you are doing is fine,if you have *plenty*
of time to fiddle with things. Especially if you have older hardware to
be using as TC's.
Sounds like your internet connection is not real great but even at that
it would be worth your time to download the(6) .iso images and be up and
running with your tc's reliably.

Why don't you post up what you are going to be using as TC's and I am
sure someone will give you tips on client setup,etc.
