I'm only modifying the boot floppy.  In my case, the installed kernel
works fine (there is something different about the BOOT kernel that
doesn't work on a set of servers I have).

Someone else said this changed with RHL 9; I guess so, because I wrote
this for RHL 9 initially and it just worked (I actually put an RHL 8.0
BOOT kernel on the floppy).
