Images in ks.cfg harddisk install

I've spent some time trying to make my install info available on an existing partition on the hard drive. My ks.cfg read something like this:

install
harddrive --partition=sda11 --dir=/opt/install

In various attempts I tried to remove "/opt", have the ISO images expanded, have the ISO images in base image form, and have the DVD image present. The filesystem was ext2, and the boot process could never find the install stuff it needed.

Thoughts?
