[Libguestfs] appliance VM won't start, can't find /init, but /init is in the image.

Yes.  OK,  I fixed the udev problem, there are now three daemons running,
and /dev is populated as expected.
Looks like the problem was the missing initscripts package, which I
shoe-horned into febootstrap_debian.ml.

Ah.  This is what I have on my home machine (Ubuntu 10.10):

# virtio serial / console ports
KERNEL=="vport*", ATTR{name}=="?*", SYMLINK+="virtio-ports/$attr{name}"

This is what I have on my work machine (Ubuntu 10.04 derivative):
# virtio serial / console ports
KERNEL=="vport*", SYMLINK+="virtio-ports/$ATTR{name}"

Do you have something more?  I'm tempted to upgrade my home machine to have
at least one box I can use to test libguestfs.
