I answered this one separately. I don't recommend doing a full XSL transformation as we don't need all the data in the file. Cherry picking with XPath will be sufficient. This is what we do with the libvirt format.

What Perl library would you use for the XSL transforms?  Adding new
dependencies can be problematic (I'm thinking from a RHEL point of
view specifically, but also in general it adds a burden).
