This happens because the program 'mdadm' is not installed. Probably
you just need to install it with apt-get, and everything should work.
You might need to rebuild libguestfs, or not, depending on how you
build the appliance.

This is caused because the program 'lvm' is not installed. As above,
install it with apt-get and things should work.
