[Libguestfs] [PATCH v2] launch: add support for autodetection of appliance image format

I pushed this, but I changed fmt -> format throughout.  This isn't
just bikeshedding - it's helpful when grepping all the places where
"format" is used if we can grep just "format" and not have to think
about other spelling variations.
