I'm 50-50. It is indeed used all over the place, but making it easier
to use makes it a tiny bit easier to forget to ask ourselves why we are
using it, and whether we should paying attention to the return value
after all.

Anyone else have an opinion? If no one else chimes in over the course
of a week, then take this as an ACK and push it.
