  look at
  virDomainBlockStats/virDomainInterfaceStats/virDomainMemoryStats
in the library API, as well as the equivalent commands in the virsh
command line tool domblkstat/domifstat/dommemstat
And sure libvirt must know about the domain to be able to monitor it.
